Antonio Salutini, Sportlicher Leiter von Acqua e Sapone und langjähriger Betreuer Cipollinis, schreibt in der aktuellen Cycle Sport zum Rücktritt von Mario:

This might surprise a few people but I'm pretty sure Mario Cipollini is going to stage a comeback for the end of the season.

It's only my personal opinion and Mario hasn't said anything to me or the team, but I know he's been training hard both when he's been in Tuscany and in Monte Carlo.

I know Mario - I've spent more time with him in the last eight years than I've spent with my wife! If he had really decided to retire, he'd be on the beach at Forte dei Marmi now and wouldn't be out doing miles.

At Acqua e Sapone we`re busy getting ready for the Vuelta. His lead-out-riders Giovanni Lombardi and Mario Scirea are also training hard, so I'm pretty sure he'll be back for the start of the Vuelta on September 7.

I know that quite a few influential people in Italian cycling, such as former national coach Alfredo Martini, have spoken to Mario and have tried to convince him to come back.

It's not that life doesn't go on without him, but it would be a great shame if he ended his amazing career by just stopping like that. It'd be much better if he accepted that things are difficult in cycling at the moment and he can't demand the earth, and decides to keep racing and end his career in style next season.

Obviously it's up to Mario to announce what he wants to do, but don't be surprised if he calls another press conference in the next few weeks.

Ich denke Jan Ullrich ist in Deutschland wichtiger als Cipollini, was auch die Antworten in den entsprechende Threads zeigen.

wenn alle ju Fans so viel über ihn schreiben wie du über cipo, dann aber Land unter

Chris, das würde er nicht wagen, wenn du nicht mit der Kamera dort stehen würdest.

mich ist es trotzdem ein stinklangweiliger Kommentar, weil man nichts neues aus diesem Kommentar erfahren hat.
