Rafael Reis gewinnt zum 7.Mal seit 2016 den Prolog der Volta. Seit 2021 das 5.Mal in Folge.
2019 durfte W52 nicht teilnehmen, 2017 war Caja Rural nicht dabei. 2020 war Gustavo Cesar Veloso der einzige, dem das Kunststück gelang, den Portugiesen im direkten Duell zu schlagen.

Außer Leitao und Verbrugghe waren alle anderen auch mindestens 2 Sekunden pro Kilometer bzw. 1,5 km/h langsamer.
